The Dragonfly XL Flannel Kick is a perfect hybrid of the Soft Flannel and the Big Softy. It has 4 layers of ultra soft fleece sandwiched between 32 layers of soft flannel.
At 2½" in diameter, it sits directly between the 3" Big Softy and the 2" Soft Flannel. It gives your bass drum a huge, boomy sound with very little attack. You get less give and a little more clarity than the Big Softy, but it's definitely softer and boomier than the Soft Flannel.
Dragonfly Percussion has been making mallets for the world's top orchestras for 20 years, and its kick drum beaters bring that attention to timbre to the drum set. They're adapted from Viennese-style timpani mallets, and the full-bodied, warm sound and responsive feel is unlike anything else you've tried.
