The Ulysses Owens Jr. Signature is a bass drum beater from Dragonfly, designed with the multi Grammy Award-winning drummer and educator for jazz players and anyone who wants clarity and dynamic range.

It's a variation on Dragonfly's beater line with two key updates: 15 layers of black suede, tightly stacked, on a light aluminium tube and cap. The lower weight lets you play whisper-soft behind a piano trio or singer, then push to a big punch for a big band or a heavily amplified ensemble.

Sound: clean and clear, with an underlying warmth you don't get from typical felt beaters. It suits smaller bop-style 16" or 18" bass drums, and still cuts through with punch and tone on a 20", 22" or 24".

Heads: it stays consistent across calfskin, Fiberskyn, Calftone and Ambassador-style mylar heads, and it projects well through clear or pinstriped heads. Ulysses also records across many genres, and this beater improves the bass drum sound in the studio.
