RootsEQ, stocked in Australia
RootsEQ makes simple, hand-made tone control for toms and snares, and I stock it here in Australia. Each one is a cloth-and-wire ring or disc that drops onto the batter head, takes the sting out of the overtones and gives you a warmer, more controlled sound, with nothing to tape on or peel off.
Which RootsEQ?
- Ring: an open-centre ring that tames overtones and leaves the middle of the head free for sticks and brushes. White or Red Bandana, 10" to 18".
- Solid: a full cotton face for deeper, vintage tea-towel dampening. White, Red Bandana or Black Bandana, 10" to 18".
- Snare Ring: an open gap at the edge of the head for buzz rolls, with a no-snag zone for cross stick. White or Red Bandana, 13" and 14".
- Flappy: lighter, looser fabric with no edge hemming, so the drum opens up a little more. White, 14".
The bandana finishes use custom prints, and because of fabric supply the print can vary slightly from batch to batch.
RootsEQ was made by drummers: Adam Topol, a Los Angeles drummer who spent more than fourteen years recording and touring with Jack Johnson, and New York drum maker Matt Smith. It started with a simple problem, T-shirts sliding off toms mid-song, and it's all hand crafted in the USA.
